Hi everyone! It’s me, Abby! And I have THE MOST EXCITING NEWS! I can’t believe it myself … but it’s almost time for … DOG JOG!

I am SO EXCITED to be the official “spokesdog” for this year’s event. Fame, fortune, snacks … what more could a dog want? Well, actually, I know what else I want … a home for every animal that doesn’t have one. That’s why my mom and I are hitting the Dog Jog trails this year!

Maybe I’m getting a bit ahead of myself — I suppose not everyone is a Dog Jog veteran like me. So just what, exactly, is Dog Jog?

I’m glad you asked! Dog Jog is a pledged fundraising walk of either 2.5 or 5 km. This year it runs Sunday, June 8. People can register for the event and collect pledges for their walk in support of the Calgary Humane Society (CHS), and then come join me and hundreds of other humans and their dogs for a super fun walk. (I bet your pooch’s ears just pricked up at the sound of that word!)

Following the walk, everyone is invited to join us at the festival site to check out some awesome vendors, demonstrations, food truck fare and entertainment. Oh, and feel free to bring the little humans along too — there will be fun activities planned for them, too! Not big on long walks? That’s okay! You can still support CHS by coming out to enjoy the day with us.

I CAN’T WAIT to meet you all at Dog Jog! Now, I should mention that if it’s cold or rainy like last year, I might have to leave a bit early. It’s not that my mom doesn’t like the rain — she takes me out in all kinds of weather. I’m just a bit of a baby when it comes to that sort of thing. Don’t laugh. Just cause I’m a 92 pound pit bull doesn’t mean I can take all the cold and wet. Let’s all hope for more sunshine this year!
